Why working with Berba®?

Our translators don’t need to be their own marketers, financial analysts or service agents. Our model ensures that you get jobs regularly wherever you are, so you only have to worry about translating.

Only take the jobs that interest you

Stop working on projects that do not motivate you. At Berba, our PMs will pair you with translation projects that complement your area of expertise and interests.

Being part of Berba translators' community, your workplace is your choice. Choose where and when do you want to work and be your own boss.

What do they say?

As a freelance translator who has been collaborating with Berba for a while, I can guarantee and firmly state their professionalism. Every single project manager always makes sure to fulfill any request or doubt and they all do their total best to make you feel comfortable and a part of the Berba world. Reliability, organizational skills, speed, good work flow and a young and fresh team are, without a shadow of doubt, what make Berba so unique.

Beatrice Gandolfo

Spanish and English to Italian translator

When you’re a professional freelance translator, one of the most challenging parts of your job is dealing with tight deadlines and inexperienced project managers who lose control. And with Berba, there are no tight deadlines and no stressed-out project managers. Thank you, I love you for that!

Regina Rotter

I always enjoy working with Berba. They offer great opportunities, they have a nice staff, they offer quick assistance and they are easy to work with. Their first concern is client’s satisfaction. I am really proud to work with them and be a part of their linguist team.

FAQ

We answer all your questions and concerns.

No! We use Phrase TMS (formerly known as Memsource).

We provide you with a username and you just have to set up an account the first time we work together. Afterwards, everytime you are assigned a project with us, all you need to do is go to Phrase and enter your credentials to access the list of pending and completed projects.

Once you are done with all the ongoing tasks, the license will be deactivated.

With our platform we want to simplify things and allow translators to focus on what they do best: translating.

✅We attract the most qualified clients thanks to our marketing team

✅We have a variety of interesting projects coming your way

✅You decide when and where you want to work

✅We have dedicated Project Managers that will help you during the entire translation process and even afterwards

✅Translate faster thanks to our Translation Memories

✅We do all the invoicing and tax processing for you

You set your own rates! We encourage everyone to share with us the rates they think are fair. It’s important to us to give translators the freedom to choose.

We want to ensure that each translator of our community receives the amount of work their skills and professionalism deserve. For this reason, the rates of each translator should be similar to the average rates in each language combination as compared to other translators. This way, your pricing is more competitive with that of other translators, and as a result, you will see great offers of work coming your way.

If you have any doubts about competitive pricing per language combination and specialization, you can always ask the PMs.

One thing that makes us different is that we issue invoices for you, we call them Payment ID. This is why it is important that you make sure that all your payment information is updated and correct in your Berba profile, from your TAX Identification Number to the preferred method of payment (bank transfer or PayPal).

Payment IDs will include your personal information and all the details of the projects that will be paid to you in that month. This information will be drawn from the Purchase Orders (POs) you have been sent when assigned to those projects. After you receive the Payment ID from us via email, digitally sign it and send it back to us, then we will proceed with the payment.

Payments will occur in the next month after your translation’s deadline. This means that all the jobs completed in January, for example, will be paid at the end of February.

An exception to this process occurs when your projects haven’t reached the amount of 50€. In this case, the payment will be processed once you reach or surpass those 50€ or after 3 months have passed if your projects haven’t got to the minimum amount.

For example, if you deliver in January a project that amounts to 7€, other projects in February that add to 30€, and another in March of 3€ (in total, 40€), you will be paid at the end of April.

However, if you deliver in January a project that amounts to 7€ and in February another that adds to 50€ (in total, 57€), you will be paid at the end of March.

For more information, you can also check the Supplier Contract.

Berba’s XTRF Portal is not available. We use it exclusively for assignment and managing our projects internally.

We are working on bringing you a more user-friendly Translator Portal that includes all the projects you have worked on in the past and if they have been invoiced or not and other key features that will improve your experience as a translator. In the meantime, if you need to make any changes to your profile, please do so by accessing the current Berba’s Translator Portal

We use XTRF, a Translation Management System, through which we send you and other translators an email whenever there’s a task available that fits your language combinations and specializations.

That email includes a link to the project details such as PO, deadline, instructions and the Accept and Reject buttons.

If you accept the task, you can directly go to your Phrase profile and you will see the project there. If you don’t see it, please contact a PM at projects@berba.com

If you have any questions, commentaries or concerns about the source text or translation decisions you can get in touch with any of our PMs at projects@berba.com

If you want to register and the language you’re looking for is not showing up, please get in touch with us by sending an email to info@berba.com or to the PM that contacted you.

Yes, you can always edit your profile and add any language combinations or specializations. You can also change your password, change the rates, delete language combinations… If you have any questions about registration, please email info@berba.com or the PM that contacted you.

Yes! In the Translator Portal, inside the section My languages, every language combination has a check box that you can tick if you are a sworn translator in that specific combo.

Regarding transcription, voice over and DTP (called Document Reproduction), you can add your rates in the section Other services.
